Starting My Own Brand!

Hello all, it is I, Jackson. I bring you a rare blog done by Jackson himself. The past week in Glasgow has been probably one of the sunniest weeks I have ever seen. This is great considering I run every other day, and it has been over 60 degrees a couple of days so it's amazing running weather. Speaking of running, I broke my record and actually ran 61 minutes straight during one of my runs! I was running at night and had a great view looking over the city:

Here are some pictures of sunny Glasgow I took over the past week:

A little over a week ago, I decided to start a clothing brand with my friend Tony from GR. We decided on the name "Jax Hoffman" which mixed a version of my first name with his last name. I have wanted to start my own clothing brand a couple of times before, but this time I thought would be a great time because we could release our first items around the start of summer. I bought the domain jaxhoffman.com and did a lot of research on how to get clothing suppliers and how to set up your own store. I had someone make a logo for the brand:

I told him that I wanted to include the toy jack somewhere in the design just because of the "Jax" part, and he replaced it with the x in Jax which I thought was clever. I didn't realize this until later, but the H for Hoffman is actually inside of the J logo.

For our first collection we plan to have a baseball cap with an embroidered JH logo, an embroidered T-Shirt with that same logo, and then a separate graphic tee with a graphic that my friend made. The T-Shirt name for this graphic is called "Roll The Dice" tee and here is the design for it:

I thought it was really awesome, I love the colorful wings that he added to the dice. We made an instagram account for the brand @jax_hoffman and when our first collection is released it will be live at jaxhoffman.com. We plan to release our first collection hopefully late May or early June. Then we can possibly fit in one more drop before the winter season. I have been watching a ton of videos about how to promote your brand using instagram ads and how to set up your online store so we should have everything figured out in a month or so. If you go to jaxhoffman.com you can put in your email to be updated when we go live!

We plan to grow our brand over the summer and see how popular we can become. We also are planning more designs and products to release in the future. Hopefully it gets a bit warmer in Grand Rapids; I heard it was in the mid 30s a couple days ago. Overall I'm pretty excited for this summer when I will have time to work on this project, and also work on more music to release.

Okay, y'all, I'm still here, cooking and baking even though the 'baasa' oven is trying to curtail all of my efforts.  Just throwing a little Hebrew in there to keep you all guessing.

My latest muffins are the boys favorite so far.  They are apple cinnamon brushed with butter and dipped in sugar to top them off.  Seriously, how can you NOT like them?

Tonight we had vegan tacos.  These are made with mushrooms, black beans and tomato rice.  With an amazing zingy lime sauce that finished them off nicely. Jackson rated them 9/10 and Levi was at an 8.  Did I tell you that Levi hates mushrooms?  hehehehehe.  Some secrets are better left unsaid.....

These fish cakes were fabulous.  They took MUCH longer than outlined in the recipe, but they were a fun change of pace.

This is what I make and eat for practically every lunch.  It takes me an hour to build it (remember this Chelsea? I'm still at it), but I make enough for the week so that I always have my go-to greens (and veggies).  This one is so full of veggies, you can't even see the greens.

And lastly, just some good ole peanut butter cookies.

I hope you all had a great week.  I wanted to wish a happy late St. Paddy's to all of you Irish or wanna-be Irish people out there.  Bummer that we didn't get to really celebrate, but it was fun nonetheless.  Here was my favorite thing I found on Facebook that day.

Happy Sunday!

Your happy Scottish (& Irish) lass,

Kitty

I've recently become a tourist in my own town, which kinda fits since every time I open my mouth and talk, the other person thinks I am ...
